Asia’s No 1 Gay Pride parade and party
The biggest Gay event in Taiwan is Taipei Gay Pride with more then 80,000 people from around the world attending this 4 day event. The Gay parade takes place on the last Saturday in October each year and is the highlight of the event. The Parade starts from Kaidagelan Blvd, then moves thought the streets of Taipei, ending up back where it started taking about 2 hours, (don’t forget to take water with you).
When the parade returns to the main stage gets under way, with local celebrities performing to show their support for gay pride, you will also find lots of stalls highlighting the gay charities and organisations supported by the Pride. Over the years this gay pride has evolved from a political rally to a celebration of gay culture making it fun for everyone.
There are lots parties held over the pride weekend, some of the most popular of the big parties are Saturday night at the W Hotel Taipei, and the weekend circuit parties with famous DJ s from around the word and the hottest go go boys your will find in Taiwan.
The pride parade and pride gay village is not that close to the gay bars of the Red District, so we would recommend that you take a taxi to the parade from your hotel.
Taipei Pride Route
Note there are 3 routes to the parade this year, with each colour denoting different themes. Please check the official printed program for details.
